Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students were able to do printmaking this year thanks to a prior campaign, but now I would like to be able to share that amazing learning experience to more students, so I hope that we can continue learning, experimenting, and creating through printmaking.

Covid-19 made students technology fatigued and for the first time I experienced teaching where students were begging to do hands-on projects and have more experiential opportunities.

Because of the pandemic, I went for almost two years without having art supplies. Art learning became digital and while digital art has its own merits, being able to work with traditional art materials has renewed my students' sense of creativity and wonder.

Printmaking is a very visceral type of art. Students learn to carve and create textures into soft blocks and they have to problem solve as they create. Even then, it is always a surprise with the end result once their blocks are printed. My art classes have been such a breath of fresh air that I have students requesting to join my classes and art club just so they can have experiences they would not otherwise get in other courses.

Your generous donations will help my students work on multiple skills that will be used in the real world, such as problem solving, time management, fine motor, and perseverance.
