My elementary school is categorized as one of the lower performing schools in the county and in need of extra support and assistance for our students, who all experience high levels of poverty, violence, and educational inequity.
The majority of my students will either be the first or in the first generation of their families to attend college.
Statistically, African Americans, boys, and students whose parents had less education, were more likely to be suspended/expelled. Students who prepared more for their classes, spent more hours on homework, and aspired to higher academic achievement, were less likely to be disciplined at school. Helping students engage in school may be protective against disproportionate school discipline. Only 27% of them will graduate college within four years (compared to 42% of students whose parents graduated from college). But not our students - we all aspire to go to college.
Having ink, not only black, but colored ink leaves the possibilities endless in my classroom. I will be able to print out their individual pictures for their projects. All students feel a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when they see their work in published format. I want to be able to give them this feeling of satisfaction while they are learning along the way. Additionally, the ink will be used to print instructional materials, progress reports, PowerPoints. Differentiation is the key to success for my students. The ink will allow me to print differentiated materials to meet the needs of all my learners. Having ink will help my students be successful tremendously! I believe ink is a necessity for any classroom especially if the students are benefiting from it. Your donation will give my students these needed resources to keep our classroom running smoothly and effectively all year, while watching our learning gains grow.
I believe that having a classroom ink will enable my students to reach their full potential, by allowing them to see their personal work published in the classroom.
I also feel that having a printer will enable me, as their teacher, to be able to print out materials as they are needed for each student.
