As a teacher in a low- income school district where 79% of our school district receives free or reduced lunch, I want to insure all my students are given the same necessary materials to succeed. Despite the challenges some of my students face, I want to ensure their creative, witty, and eager voices are always heard. My students hold so much potential and although I cannot control what happens outside my four classroom walls, I can control what happens when they are with me. I want to create the most positive, safe and fun learning environment possible for my early, impressionable, learners. With a wide range of intellectual abilities, it’s important to meet all my students’ needs. With budgets becoming reduced its becoming increasingly difficult to deliver instruction in math, science, engineering, technology, language arts, and social studies without the necessary tools my students deserve.
My Project
I have a working printer in my classroom; however, we go through ink cartridges pretty quickly. The last few ink cartridges I have used my own money to purchase. I would love for my students to be able to print what they need - such as education resources, pictures and word documents to help make learning fun, exciting, and valuable.
Receiving ink cartridges for my classroom will help my students with online resources.
In addition, printing weekly progress reports are crucial for parents to stay current on their child's academics. Technology is limited for some of our families and they are not able to access grades on the online portal.
