My students need iPads to enhance their learning, create an interactive environment, and easily share data. The iPads will be used specifically for in-class presentations, presentations to the community, and for Super School News.
My students are in a magnet school for gifted and advanced learners. They not only work hard at grade level, but like to work on their advanced needs as well. This special group of students have a variety of needs including social and emotional, academic, and visual spacial. While they focus on academics just as any other student might, they often need very personal and careful attention to what and how they take in information. These students need constant stimulation in the classroom to be successful at their high level of thinking and to not distract from their cognitive process.
Our school looks to promote a healthy understanding of screen time and sit time while our students are learning.
They strive to incorporate a variety of learning styles including how they take in information. Students that can use technology in an innovative way benefits their understanding and connections to their career goals.
My Project
Students today often come with a background of understanding technology. While we continue to grow our learning of how to effectively implement technology into our homes and classrooms, there are specific needs to be met with data sharing, virtual presentations, and connections to career goals.
At an early age students are thriving with technology enhancements and deserve a space that allows this hunger for more to succeed.
A variety of computers, tablets, and other technology devices surround our kids each day, and they are looking for a direction to foster these sources. iPads are user friendly and have particular software that allows an easy accessibility of all material to multiple groups at one time. Editing film and taping news stories are the particular goals using these iPads. Students have begun a school news channel and are desperate to use technology that aids them in their goals.
In science, these students are recording projects, simulations, and undergoing virtual labs that need an interface that allows them to learn and grow. While we have been using phones and trying to share the videos from a phone, iPads give students the opportunity to revise their labs and study their own data. Continuing to work on their conclusions as they analyze their own progress gives students the opportunity to self-track their progress in class. With many students wanting to become engineers, it is crucial for them to have the opportunity to review and revise their work.
