My fifth grade students are inquisitive, creative, and love to learn! It is one of my goals as their teacher to provide them with an exciting and engaging education.
My students live in a high poverty/low income part of rural Maine, despite these challenges they are resilient and come to school every day ready to learn!
Fifth grade is an exciting year! Students are growing into independent readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists! My students absolutely love to read, especially nonfiction!
My Project
My fifth graders absolutely love to read, especially nonfiction! In fifth grade we have two big nonfiction reading units. One of our units revolve around debatable topics. Many of these topics are issues surrounding us today.
I want my fifth graders to understand the importance of being informed future citizens.
Having Scholastic News Readers will help enhance their nonfiction reading. This resource will also be a wonderful compliment to our reading units, as we can have conversations around relevant articles.
Adding any supplemental reading resources can help engage all students. Many of my students enjoy reading nonfiction, short articles. Scholastic News Readers could be what grabs some of my students' interest!
