Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have grown up in an inner city; many of these children face poverty, violence and obscenities of life on a daily basis that are well beyond what most of us could not imagine. Despite all of this, they come to school ready to expand their minds and continue to explore. My students continue to be hopeful and strive for their very best.
They are always looking to learn new things and explore different subjects more in depth; they come to school hungry for knowledge trying to do their best to learn as I try to do my best to give them a good education and an introduction to the American way of life.
My school has limited resources, and the parents have even less, so anything that donors can do is so very appreciated.
These children deserve the best and I plan to keep doing my best to provide them with the skills and tools they need to be successful on their journey in life after leaving my classroom!
My Project
Science provides the answers to many of the questions that young children ask, such as ‘Why is the sky blue?’ and ‘What makes the colors in a rainbow?’.
The tools from this project will build each students curiosity to explore the wonders of how science is in their daily life; having the supplies needed gives students confidence.
The students in my class do not have access to all of these types of animals and tools to explore the world around them, so the tools will allow me to bring the world into the classroom. With the resources provided by this project my students will be able to obtain the following skills: begin to have a love of science, develops life-skills, strengthen literacy and language development, begin to develop critical thinking, form independent opinions, and develop decision-making skills. Science is all about exploring at your own pace.
