Informational Texts, CCLS and Women's History Month!

My students need 7 nonfiction/information based texts to broaden their skills and prepare for Women's History Month in March. Examples are "Women Who Light the Dark," "Women Travelers," and "Notes from the Cracked Ceiling."

My Students

In anticipation of the Spring semester, I'm organizing materials that will be of high interest, meet Common Core Learning standards and are information based texts.

My students did a great job creating projects that were information based to a play we read this semester and I'd like them to have the opportunity to do something using the same skills for a different topic.

Having these resources in class will benefit them now and supplement what they learn in their History class.

My Project

My students will learn about the women who shaped our country and at the same time work on information texts that are diverse and challenging. These resources will be used for a project in the spring and will enhance our classroom library. By having these sources in our class we can also use them to supplement the visual aspect of their presentations.

This project is important because it helps me build continuity.

We are developing skills and will practice them again in the upcoming semester. We'll use these books to practice creating bibliographies supplemented by materials they can interact with on a daily basis.
