Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like to write an informational report and could not find the books you needed? Students in my class go through this every time we are reading and writing about a nonfiction theme. Please add more nonfiction variety in our library!
My students get hooked on any theme I read to them.
Boys love books about science and the earth. Once they get hooked they can't put the book down!
All of them love science and with the pressure of testing our science must be integrated with reading and writing.
We are a Spanish bilingual dual immersion school. That is the reason why the books I chose are in Spanish.
My Project
My plan is to start reading these books aloud. Get them hooked!! My target is boys who get sick of fiction stories. If the boys buy into them then girls who also like science will follow. The beginning of the year would be valuable to introducing them to nonfiction features. This will follow with a comparison to what they know about fiction features.
THIS would definitely give them a head start!!
These books will add variety to our classroom library which is short in nonfiction material.
These books will help in not running out of nonfiction materials by the middle of the year.
