This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in grades 5th-8th. They are from an urban district which is under funded. and many of my students come from poverty, and parent involvement is lacking. Teachers that I work with try to overcome this by providing all that we can during the time that we have with them. We try to reward their behavior and academic achievement as often as we can and with a large all free carnival event at the end of the school year. We can only do this with your support.
My Project
We started a Camp Curtin Cares program at our school, in which students and staff have raised close to $20,000 in the last few years for local charities. We have done this mainly through dress down days. We encourage all students to donate to encourage giving to others in need.
The Staff at Camp Curtin are giving back to the students by having free carnival day to celebrate.
We are proud of our students, who may not have much themselves, but sacrifice to donate a little each month to help other community organizations. They work hard throughout the school year to stay focused, ready, responsible and respectful. Adding inflatables to our carnival will be an awesome way to show them they are awesome.
