I teach in a regional autistic support classroom. The students in my classroom benefit from having small group or one-on-one instruction. Our classroom has a low student to teacher ratio which provides the best learning environment for our kiddos. We are able to focus on academic goals along with behavior, communication, social and functional life skills.
The students in my classroom are eager to come to school each day.
In addition to day to day studies, we take community based field trips throughout the year. These experiences help build skills the students will use to be successful later in life.
My students also have a brew crew cafe. Each morning they take orders from the teachers and make and deliver their coffee. This gives them experience handling money, engaging with others in a professional environment and experience fulfilling job requirements. The students in my class love their job as brew crew cafe baristas!
Technology is a part of every student's daily life. It is important that we use technology as a part of the learning process. My students need new Apple iPads and adapter cables that support new educational apps. There are many apps that are designed to help students who have autism. If we get new iPads, I can provide my class with resources to help meet their unique learning needs.
Receiving new iPads will help my class across all content areas!
Additionally, iPads will help my students who have expressive language needs. These iPads will be used in a way that gets my students engaged and excited about learning.
