Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are mostly from the north and northwest side of the city. The dedication with both varsity and junior varsity players to excel is off the charts. We are trying to build the strongest neighborhood softball program in Chicago.
The community is strong, energetic, supportive and are deeply passionate about their children's education.
I firmly believe that a strong sports program is a natural link to draw students to the school. We currently have numerous academic partners who are making the turnaround happen.
My Project
Materials purchased will make a huge difference in preparing for our upcoming season. Due to the weather constrictions in Feb/Mar players will spend a lot of time indoors training. Using appropriate material not only improves skill level but also insures safety. The Jugs machine balls will work perfectly will the Jugs Pitching Machine we use for practice.
Players will be very excited to receive new equipment and even more excited to receive support for their upcoming season.
The indoor training balls will allow students to take full batting practice inside.
The dozen Dream Seam balls are a very nice quality. Due to financial limitations the school has to spend on equipment, the 12" balls purchased will be used for the eight home games we have this year.
