My students need activities, like puzzles, blocks, and an addition and subtraction game, for those indoor recess days! Rather than just reading or drawing, I would like some educational activities for them to use.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
You may not remember being stuck inside on those extra cold winter days with nothing to do, but in Utah it happens a lot during our school year. Students are kept indoors during their RECESS TIME, when the temperatures are too cold or it is too wet outside.
This presents a problem because my students are often required to "stay indoors".
I feel they should have an opportunity to have some FUN during THEIR RECESS! The standard of reading and drawing are the "go to" activity when nothing else is available. Don't get me wrong, reading and drawing are great, but not several recesses a day and several days over several weeks at a time! It gets old fast!
Because the 2nd graders in my classroom come from low income homes and have few if any educational games available for their use, in their homes I would like to have several puzzles and games available for them to use at school. Often they have not had the opportunity to put a puzzle together at home or to play a board game with their friends.
My Project
By funding the purchase of these FUN educational activities, my students will have an opportunity to practice many of life's skills. Major skills they will be challenged with are sharing, taking turns, waiting for their turn, being patient, problem solving and how to win and loose ... in a sportsman like manner. All of which "WE" as adults sometimes still have difficulty with. What better opportunity to provide my students than real life practice during their recess time....practice for the real world of adulthood!
I want my students to understand reading and math.
But, more importantly how to be kind polite children and eventually adults. That is why the addition of these activities to my classroom are important. They will provide life skills and balance their academic skills.
I will be able to use these activities will future classes of students as well. So your support will help shape responsible students for years to come.
