Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our student population is 95% Latino. Our students are immigrants or from immigrant families. Ninety-nine percent of our students are receiving free lunch. Our school also has a large special education population. Our families spend a lot of their time working and aren't able to spend a lot of time with their children. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
All of my students love building and making things during indoor recess. Unfortunately, I don't have enough materials for all of my students. This can make things even more difficult. Having indoor recess can be challenging for students and teachers, especially when we don't have the proper materials to keep students engaged and entertained.
I hope that by having Magna-Tiles, Legos and Marble Runs all students will be able to be creative and work with their classmates to build amazing things.
My students already have shown an incredible interest in building things, and this project will give all students access to their inner architect.
