Help me give my students some creative, brain-boosting, social-learning games to use during rainy days, spare the air days, and hot days here in California! My students love to play games when they can't go outside.
Many of my students face challenges in life due to poverty, unstable housing, and language barriers. Although life is not easy, my students are extremely positive, grateful, and happy children. Our school faces the same issues many other schools face in low socioeconomic areas. We strive to meet the basic needs of our students so they are successful in school. My students are amazing people. They are extremely motivated, positive, and honest.
"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he/she is someone today." — Stacia Tauscher.
My Project
I would love to be able to provide my students with fun and engaging board games they can play together inside the classroom. This will allow my students healthy and active alternatives to indoor recess activities. Many days in California are too hot, too rainy, or too smoky to play outside during recess.
Most of my students do not have access to board games at home due to the poverty level they live in.
The games I've chosen will help my students build social skills, improve communication, work on conflict resolution, and encourage them to think critically. Students will practice reading, following, and applying directions.
