My students need the accessories listed (SD card, case, headphones, and charging station) to go with our Kindle Fires and begin our hands-on math, economics, and literacy projects.
My classroom is a diverse group of 6th and 7th grade students who enjoy hands on and meaningful instruction. There is no such thing as a typical day in our room. We enjoy moving around, group work, and taking class outside when the weather is nice!
My class is a special education resource classroom that helps students below grade level try and bridge the gap to get back on grade level.
Our school is a small rural school in Arkansas. My students play a wide range of sports and stay very active. The few that do not play sports participate in our band or choir. Although these skills are great and necessary to stay healthy and possibly provide scholarships to higher education, it is my desire to raise the bar and immerse them in math and economics that will be necessary to create successful members of our small community. The students in my class have a thirst for knowledge and enjoy it when it is meaningful to real life instead of just words and numbers in a book.
My Project
The materials we are requesting go with our previous project of "Making Math and Economics fun!". The items we are requesting will help increase the storage space on our Kindle Fires with the SD cards, create a less distracting atmosphere with the headphones, and enable us to keep the Kindle Fires charged and ready for use at all times with the charging docs. These resources will help my students focus on making smart economic decisions in the Stock Market Game and monitor his/her own behavior through the classroom economy. Educational applications will be available to use and the SD card will allow much more storage space than the Kindle Fire alone with only 8gb of memory. These accessories will help make our classroom even more successful in learning math and literacy concepts through economics.
This project will make a difference with my students because it enables us to individualize the use of the Kindle Fires.
The headphones and SD cards will enable the students to work on specific skills individually in addition to participating in whole group projects.
