Help me give my students the organization of individual sensory boxes, task boxes, art trays, literacy stations and math manipulatives to stay socially distanced and safe at school or at home.
Providing sensory play helps my preschool special needs students with varying abilities to achieve their individual goals.
I am honored to witness my students who have a variety of special needs including Autism, Downs Syndrome, Multiple Handicaps, developmental delays, language impairments and hearing impairments learn, thrive and grow given an individualized program for their needs.
Preparing the individualized environment for them to succeed is an ongoing, challenging process which offers daily moments of witnessing heart-warming growth, independence and budding language skills.
My Project
These materials will offer individualized work stations for my preschoolers to learn. Each student will have a colored sensory bin, small coordinating boxes to put things into, ten frames to count on, letter work to spell their names and art materials to complete projects. I will use many existing materials at school and organize them into safe tasks for students to complete while socially distanced.
Fulfilling sensory play activities to enhance achievement of preschooler's individual goals will provide students with hands-on experiences to work whether they be at home or at school.
Sensory experiences help these young learners to play as they achieve their learning goals. Organizing these individual and safe learning spaces will help my students to continue utilizing the present materials available in my classroom in a socially distanced way.
