Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are each their own unique individuals, have different learning levels, and are motivated to learn. My school is located in a low socioeconomic area and is in a district that has been taken over by the state. More than half of my students come from low income households.
My students all have learning difficulties and are each on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
My students are in grades Kindergarten - 3rd grade. Most of my students struggle with basic phonics, number sense; as well as letter and number identification. Some even struggle with basic social interactions. With their diverse needs, Ipads would provide them access to the curriculum. It would allow access to apps to enhance their learning in the areas of math, social skills, and reading.
My Project
My special education students all have learning difficulties, many with Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Developmental Delays. My students range in learning levels from kindergarten through third grade. Meeting the needs of such a wide range of students and learning abilities is challenging.
Ipads would allow students access to learning opportunities and enhance their learning to help reach their goals on their IEPs.
We will use the two Ipads to strengthen their knowledge in the areas of literacy, math, writing, phonics and social skills. My students can use the Ipads to listen to stories, to write their own stories with text to speech or to practice forming letters. The Ipads apps will also allow them to play games to increase their fluency in reading and math.
