I love everything about my students. I love how they learn differently. I love how they communicate differently. I love how the love differently. Every student is special in their own way, from how they smile when they know that they have made you proud, to the way they light up when they walk in the morning. My prek students have very different ability levels. Some are just beginning to hold a pencil in a fist grip while others are decoding words. We have some students that love participating in groups while others deal with anxiety and prefer to be one on one.
Each day brings on new adventures and possibilities.
My classroom is constantly changing along with the students. The supplies they need continue to change too. We have several structured small group activities throughout the day along with one one one structured activities. We create a lot of hands on activities to support functional skills and basic academic skills. They strive every day to improve a little more.
My Project
All of our students are very different with different ability levels. We create many different individualized activities for the students that require plenty of ink, card stock, and laminating sheets. Using a bookbinder that I purchased myself, I create book activities to help teach colors, alphabets, numbers and strengthen focusing and functional skills. My students also need a literacy rich environment to help with speech delays and vocabulary growth.
With these materials, I will be able to create activities that are more interesting and personalized for individual growth and achievement.
I will also be able to create social stories that are very helpful when supporting social/emotional and behavior needs.
