Individualized Instruction With an iPad Keeping Wonder Alive

My students need iPads in order to be able to pursue their individual interests and keep their sense of wonder alive.

My Students

My students are so curious and full of wonder, as they ask questions challenging me and my knowledge of the world I want to ensure that they are able to constantly ask questions and have the tools to find the answers. Their curiosity and thirst for knowledge are what drives my teaching and keeps me learning and striving to meet their very diverse needs. They come with such a wide variety of skills, knowledge and interests; I am constantly awed not only by what they want to know but what they have already learned and observed in their short lives.

The excitement, energy and enthusiasm that enters my classroom everyday is amazing.

I can only hope that they are able to hold onto it as they navigate through an urban education system that struggles to meet their needs on a daily basis. I want to make sure that they are able to pursue their interests, explore new ideas and gain the basic literacy skills they need to succeed in living happy fulfilling lives.

My Project

These iPads will give more of my students an opportunity to explore and learn about specific things that interest or are important to them. Not only can they be used for structured research opportunities and finding answers to the first graders never ending questions, but they can also be used to individualize instruction through reading programs and different apps.

As the curriculum for schools are modernizing more and more opportunities for individualized instruction are built into the curriculum, we do not have ways for individual students to access them in the classroom.

The iPads will give my students more opportunities to access in personalized components of the curriculum therefore enabling more students to experience success in the classroom.

There are so many opportunities for students to explore and learn through the wise use of technology having iPads in the classroom will open more doors for more students and allow students will curious souls to keep exploring the many questions that frequent their mind, building life long learners as they begin to learn to find the answers to questions that plague them.
