I have been blessed the opportunity to teach in a Cross Categorical Special Education Classroom for students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in a rural school system located in the Appalachian Mountains. Within our academic setting with have students who have to utilize assistive technology, such as textbooks that are read aloud on their computers. This technology allows my students to read at their individual paces and speed that allows them learn at their individual educational ability. Or class utilizes many forms of technology including iPads and MacBooks, often we project our classwork on the Smartboard. We are in need of an Apple TV so we can become more mobile. So we can project our classwork and projects from any area of our classroom and not be confined to one area of the room.
Our students within our program have a variety of academic challenges and abilities, some of which include student on the Autism Spectrum, Behavioral/Emotional Disabilities, Health/Physical Handicaps and Specific Learning Disabilities, providing funding for this grant will open up new avenues for my students to become more independent and find success the educational setting.
My Project
On a daily basis, students utilize many avenues of technology to demonstrate their ability and work in Math, English, Science and Social Studies. We often complete work in groups throughout our classroom. An Apple TV will allow us to project our work from any area of the classroom.
Your donation towards and Apple TV will provide my students with mobility and freedom to move throughout our class and enhance our educational opportunities!
The Apple TV will allow the students to be split up instructional groups based on their unique learning abilities levels in all academic areas. This will lead towards more individualized instruction.
