I am a third-grade teacher in a Brooklyn Title I classroom. My students love to learn and are eager to come to school every day. School this year is different as they all have opted in for Remote Learning. When they first enter third grade, they are nervous. It is very different from second grade. They are at the half way mark of elementary school and need to become more independent to prepare for the rest of their academics.
My students love to express themselves and effectively participate in class.
They are enthusiastic and full of energy. They are always ready to go on a new learning adventure. My goal is to give the the best learning experience and make it a memorable year.
My students have diverse backgrounds and range in academic ability from non-English to advanced learners and general education as well as special education students. My students are heterogeneously grouped. I believe the more engaged my students are, the better outcomes they will have.
My Project
I am trying to keep my students motivated and engaged in learning from home. A few months have passed and my students are doing a phenomenal job in learning with this new way through a pandemic. My students are always asking for new activities and websites. There are many programs on the web but they all come with a fee. Resources are limited through NYCDOE and therefore, children have limited access. My students participate in three hours a day of Google Meets. However, instruction is whole class because a teacher needs to be present at all times and I am on my own with no other adult. I hold small group reading instruction weekly to meet their needs. Study.com will help provide differentiation for every student in reading and math. I am reaching out for support to bring this learning website to my students.
