My Students
In our low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges inside and outside of the classroom. My classroom consists of 6 high-need students, needing both academic support and emotional support. While my students are in fourth grade, many of them are reading at a 1st grade level and performing mathematics at a 1st grade level. Abilities range greatly within my classroom, making independent station work very important.
I want to be able to provide students with individualized learning kits so that they have the materials needed to increase their math, reading, and coping skills.
These kits will allow my students to work at home or in the classroom on their skills.
My Project
Please help me give my students learning materials that will facilitate each student having their own learning kits. Typically we are able to share supplies within the classroom, but due to the current situation, I need a variety of hands-on learning materials to create individual kits that students are able to use.
Students will receive three pencil cases of materials: one for math materials, one for reading materials, and one for mental health.
Students will be able to use these materials to increase their math, reading, and coping skills in the classroom or at home.
Base 10 hands on student packs, word building tiles, white boards, markers, erasers, glue, and scissors will all act as parts to their individual learning kits made with the pencil cases.
The library pocket folders and heavy duty folders will offer more organization in creating the individual learning kits.
