My Project

I have a very curious group of fifth graders. As we are about to move into our Ecosystems unit, one of the topics we will discuss is food chains and food webs. Owl pellets will allow the students to have a hands-on experience by dissecting the regurgitation of owls to see what they eat and how this affects the environment.

My goal is for them to have fun while learning.

Meaningful and fun experiences in the classroom are the best ways to keep them engaged and it also helps them remember what they are learning. I mean who wouldn't want to dissect owl throw up! I have students come back year after year telling me that this lab has been the most memorable lab that they have ever done!

My fifth graders are such a special group because they love asking questions and learning. They are super smart and always challenge me to be a better teacher!
