Independently Accessing Curriculum

Help me give my students access to the online portion of our general education curriculum while participating in face to face school. With these iPads my students can independently access the online curriculum and enrich their learning.

My Students

I teach in a self contained Special Education classroom. Our official title is Structured Learning and the students in my class have different disabilities. They differ from year to year as does the number of students in my class. I have had students with Autism, multiple disabilities, and cognitive impairments, just to name a few.

My students have significant impairments, but they are some of the hardest workers I have ever met.

They are willing to try just about anything asked of them. They are all unique and I love working with them.

My Project

Independence is a huge struggle with special education students. I have several students in my self contained class that do not have the hand eye coordination to use a computer with a mouse independently. Having iPads will help them access the online portion of our general education curriculum with less adult assistance.

This technology can also be used for brain breaks.

When working with students with significant disabilities any tasks considered work can be difficult. Having technology as a break choice will entice them to complete tasks with less avoidance behaviors.
