Mrs. Martin-Oguike from Roselle NJ is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need headphone for individualized assignments that involve watching videos or listening to audios. It sometimes helps those with special needs to avoid distractions, listen to music while working or use read-aloud software.

I am a special teacher in a diverse learning environment. I work with students with learning, emotional, behavioral and communication disabilities. Access is technology is a necessity as differentiated instruction continues to be our approach.
Our diverse classrooms include students from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
As students in a title 1 school, more than 2/3 of the population have free lunch and are enrolled in basic skills classes to close their achievement gap. Also there are students in the the gifted and talented program, some of whom have learning and other disabilities.
There is inadequate parent advocacy, support and involvement as the greater umber of our students' parents work through the week and often cannot come in for meetings and conferences. Students with special need participate actively in inclusive classes and progress adequately with support.
My struggling readers will use the read aloud apps to support them while working independently in class. Students who need audio-visual support will comfortably work in class while reviewing audios. They can participate on virtual tours as they learn to advance their background knowledge in every course.
Problem Based Learning (PBL) activities will be enhanced as students can work independently, making audios, videos and researching on YouTube and other school-based sites.
Our students will benefit from using these headphones and not have to be disadvantaged if they cannot afford to bring one from home. Headphones will also help with concentration in class.
