My students are incredibly hardworking and eager to learn. We are always looking for ways to incorporate as many real-life experiences into the classroom. My students benefit from explicit instruction of independent and daily living skills, such as cooking. These materials will make a difference in my students' learning outcomes by providing them with the tools necessary to learn how to navigate their kitchen.
The goal is for my students to generalize what they learn at school to their home setting and become more independent.
By having appliances in our classroom kitchen that are similar to what they have at their house, students willlearn the skills necessary to prepare meals and snacks on their own. Some of the items we are asking for include cooking utensils, an electric griddle, toaster oven, cutting boards, and measuring cups.
