This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in an urban environment and often lack literary resources that are culturally relevant. These students can do anything they put their minds too. I look forward to using new resources to give students experiences to remember and to create a value of lifelong learning for all the students. Our school follows a program of international mindedness and our students need concrete examples of diversity that go beyond just our classroom. Many of these students are in tough situations and cannot supply their own school supplies or bring their own lunches.
My Project
Second grade students are building their capacity to make their own choices and use independent learning time to increase their learning.
Headphones will allow students to listen to stories and play phonics/grammar games.
The app we use gives the teacher information about student independent practice that we can use to support learner growth.
Binoculars will allow students to observe the courtyard from our classroom. Observations will be used to create observation notebooks in which students can draw and write to show and tell what the notice in the discovery learning area. This area is built around student inquiry and will allow deep conversations.
