Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students attend a Title I school in Mississippi. Many enter the doors lacking alphabet knowledge, mathematical concepts, and self-help skills such as knowing how to tie their shoes. I want to provide centers that are not only based on academics but also teach independence. The materials, I am asking for are laminating sheets, binders, glue, copying paper, and clear sleeves. These resources will be used to create student binders filled with activities that are hands-on for each subject area and engaging. The shoe typing center will be used as an early finisher center allowing students to get the practice needed to master the task (shoe tying). All resources will be used to extend an environment that will support individual collaborative learning that encourages positive interaction, student engagement, and self-motivation.
