Our students come from all walks of life and face life's challenges everyday with a positive attitude. Each of our students come to us with a severe disability that impacts their ability to learn both functional and academics skills. Our disabilities include, but are not limited to learning disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Q21 Chromosomal deletion, and Apraxia. They all love to learn, but require a hands on, colorful, and creative delivery of instruction. They learn best with pictures and hands on activities.
With the funding of these file folder games our special needs students will be able to learn and practice educational skills using manipulatives and hands on visuals. These file folder games will also allow our students practice their skills independently.
We also have requested Velcro dots and laminating sheets to ensure that your donation will last for many years to come.
We have used both of these brands and they are durable and imperative for this project to be successful.
Having these file folder games, Velcro dots, and laminating sheets will allow our students to learn a skill with a staff member then transfer and practice their new found skills through a durable and independent practice activity. Finding independent activities for students with severe disabilities is not always an easy task, but these file folder games will be PERFECT!
