Hello!! Working with students with a disability is a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Teaching students through any means possible is what needs to be done and is done on a daily basis. As part of the learning environment, breaks are taken to allow the student to unwind and refocus. Table tasks are given so the student can take a brain break in order to complete their work in 5-10 minutes. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where he or she is! They are truly an incredible and amazing group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of students with the curiosity to learn and the willingness to keep learning. Reaching each student through their specific needs is why I am here and through you and your generosity you will be helping to reach each student!
My Project
Through independent enhancements the students will increase their knowledge. It will also allow the teacher to see what the students are actually struggling with and reteach the material. With these hands on activities, it will keep the students engaged and eager to learn. The hot dots are a wonderful tool that have been used in the past with the students. They enjoy the noise and the ability to be corrected instantly. With each box the students knowledge will grow and excitement as well. It is through these lessons that I am better able to reach my students when working with others in the room.
