This year's students come with many challenges - both academic and behavioral. Last year, they lost their regular teacher and had substitutes for more than 1/2 the year. Previously, they showed academic gains, but because of social-emotional challenges, progress was slow.
My students are excited about learning and devour new experiences and standards with positive attitudes and humor.
I collaborate with 1st grade mono and bi-lingual and 2nd grade bilingual classrooms. My goal this year is to increase learning through organization so students develop tools to help them succeed. They can become more independent learners and will be able to take more control over their own education. In class, our often self-repeated motto is "mistakes are our friends," but I would like to lessen the mistakes they make through classroom privacy tools so we can quickly fill gaps from previous years.
Partitions enable my students to collaborate while working independently. This independence forces them to be responsible for their own education.
The partitions allow students to work privately, and the Magna-Tiles enhance engineering concepts.
My students are concerned that their classmates will copy their ideas. This leads to being more energy spent on protecting their work and less time on tasks at hand. The partitions will eliminate that concern. The Magna Tiles allow for independence in class as they build individual structures. It will also allow them to collaborate and gain success in small and large groups.
