I am a special education teacher for students with multiple disabilities. These students range from kindergarten to 2nd grade. These students are taught utilizing a modified curriculum with a focus on life skills. They all love to learn and strive so hard to be independent in the school setting.
These students teach me so much as I get the opportunity to teach them!
They teach me daily to love, live and laugh. They are 8 amazing students who offer hugs, forgive quickly and bring out the best in each other. These students are wonderfully made and are truly a gift to me. They are my heroes!
Most of my students are able to use computers but need assistance with utilizing a mouse due to difficulty with hand-eye coordination. The students will try to maneuver the mouse, but this is a struggle that causes frustration. A staff member needs to either provide hand-over-hand assistance or assist the student as they touch the monitor.
Having a touch screen will give the students independence using the computer while utilizing typing programs, online curriculum and academic websites that are used in the classroom.
They would be able to navigate to the different programs and websites with independence. While completing our online curriculum, the students would be able to touch the screen for the correct response and also be able to learn with some of the interactive websites that are used in the classroom.
