My students are special ed/special needs students who would benefit greatly from enhancements in our classroom. I'm a newly credentialed teacher who came into the school approximately 9 weeks after school started and replaced a long-term substitute. I'm teaching these 7th grader, Mild-Moderate Special Ed. students Study Skills (improved study habits, math, language arts, science, and social sciences). I would love to bring more needed classroom enhancements into my classroom to help create a space of ease for more powerful learning and work production.
My Special Ed classes are in a Title I school (low-income) with students of varying ethnic backgrounds and learning issues ranging from ADHD, autism, mood disorders to a multitude of learning disorders.
Our Middle School is in a small beach community with an incredibly dedicated and caring staff. I hope I can live up to my students' needs and do 'right' by them!
These additional materials will assist my Middle School Special Ed students with new classroom accommodations that will help them to work more efficiently. The stand-up desks will enable the students who need frequent breaks and those who can't stay seated to work longer and more comfortably. The headphones are needed for students who use computers for reading assistance, speech to text, and will be used as an incentive to listen to music after positive work output.
By donating to our classroom and this project, you will assist my Special Ed students in retaining more focus, offering alternative work areas, and in turn, increasing output.
Greater student output equals not only a better chance at improved grades, but also greater self-esteem growth. We need the scanner in our room for the constant flow of online uploads needed now in Middle School!
