This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My high school softball student-athletes strive to learn about work ethic and teamwork in the sport of softball. While having fun playing a sport, the student-athlete learns about perseverance and social skills needed to interact in the world today. Living in a low-income neighborhood they have challenges based on a lack of exposure to opportunities and adequate equipment. They are constantly telling me, “It would be easier to learn if we had the right equipment to use.” They are excited to learn and motivated to be successful. Help brighten the future of these already bright students by giving them access to needed opportunities and equipment.

My Project

To increase self-confidence, teamwork and individual sports skills, student-athletes must focus on practice and working together instead of fundraising. Too often low budgets require our team to hold fundraisers to purchase replacement or updated equipment. This takes away from the focus of work on the field and adds an additional level of stress to the student-athlete. There is never a guarantee that fundraising goals will be met and equipment will go years without being replaced. A donation towards this project will take us in a direction where we can focus on the team and individual athlete development without having to worry about funding equipment.
