Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom have a multitude of diverse learning needs. Utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and resources will support learning for all students. I strive to develop meaningful relationships with each and every student; I also strive to provide multiple opportunities of communication, socialization, and independence. Engaging and supporting their individual needs will increase their functional and life skills.
My hopes are that with continuous encouragement and creating access to peer-based activities, they will thrive in various settings.
My Project
Part of our educational goals is to increase interactions between our individual students and their peers. In the movement room, students will be able to practice their fine and gross motor skills by playing games and bouncing on yoga balls. The aforementioned activities will increase hand-eye coordination and cooperation/sharing skills.
As stated by John Palfrey, "The most important thing that schools can do is not to use technology in the curriculum more, but to use it more effectively".
Technology is a driving force in our modern society which is why it is important to provide students with a variety of different forms of instruction which can be achieved through the utilization of tablets. Providing students with access to technological support can provide them with video modeling, positive reinforcement, and sharing/communication opportunities.
