Increasing Middle Schooler's Reading Motivation with Cool New Books!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school serves Pre-K through 6th grade and 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Due to budget cuts in our school district, our students do not have a lot of the resources that are necessary for learning all the time. Our 6th grade students, have many academic needs, but still manage to come to school every day ready and eager to learn. Even though our students don't always have what they need, they still continue to strive for what is important and that is making learning important in their lives.
My Project
Over the years, the books in my classroom have become worn down with missing pages due to students reading them. There are many amazing books that we would love to add to our classroom library, so my students can continue their love for reading. Unfortunately, due to the financial aspects in our school district, it is not possible to replace books very often.
Having new books in our classroom library will capture my students' attention and increase their motivation for reading.
Middle School students at this age, are beginning to form their own identities and interests and wouldn't it be wonderful to feed their reading interests by having a variety of books for them to choose from?
I would love to give my students the opportunity to have book choices that will allow them to satisfy their reading interests. Having these book choices will allow my middle school students to have control over what they read and increase their motivation in order to become life-long readers!
