Mrs. Sutherland-Wright from Houston TX is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need tablets to work on during literacy rotation daily.

Our students will benefit highly through the use of technology. Currently, our classroom only has one computer, because of this students are not able to access a lot of educational online resources. The majority of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds; therefore, they are disadvantaged. Food and school supplies is major issue. Providing snacks for our students will make them more comfortable and willing to learn because a hungry child cannot focus. Hurricane Harvey negatively impacted many of our students. I was heartbroken when one of my students wrote about her experience and how she and her family had to walk in high water to shelter because they were flooded and lost so many things. As an educator, it my job to ensure all my students received the education they need and also to meet all their needs. I will always ensure my students are comfortable in their learning environment.
Technology is a great form of entertainment, however for my students the tablets will be much more than just entertainment. These tablets will change their lives. The tablets will be used by students during literacy workstations and throughout the the day. The tablets will help to bridge the gaps that my students are lacking, enable them to learn and do things they might not otherwise be able to do. Technology will help my students to access educational websites such as Imagine learning and Innovation For Learning used by our campus. They will have access to tutorials and much more. Students will also use the tablets for research.
Inquiry based projects are a great way for students to learn and collaborate, therefore researching projects can help students build important skills such as critical thinking skills and communication skills as well as working together as a team.
My students will also learn technology skills. Technology is a very powerful tool for education because it makes teaching and learning more meaningful and fun and allows students to learn at their own pace.
