My students come from many diverse backgrounds and each one brings unique life experiences to our classroom. Our classroom is a self-contained special education setting where instruction is adapted to meet the specific needs of young students with hearing loss.
My students are ambitious, creative, and hands-on 3-5 year old early childhood special education learners who all are Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
Our school's mission is to build a respectful, successful learning community through art-centered and technology-enhanced practices that develop intelligent behaviors in all students. Our school is an inclusive setting that accommodates the needs of all learners, even our very young Early Childhood Special Education students.
My Project
A new light table with manipulatives to use with it will give my students a chance to increase their hands-on learning experiences. My students are very young and I firmly believe that learning through play and hands-on experiences are where we see the most growth.
My students are toddlers who have varying degrees of hearing loss and thrive with hands-on learning.
Making learning fun with this type of resource will increase engagement and attention in the classroom. Watching my students play and interact with each other while using these types of materials helps me ensure that we have strong learning through play experiences.
