My Students

My 6th-grade students are curious, creative and full of questions! These students have been immersed in a one-to-one technology setting and have the opportunity to learn through simulation and hands-on experiences.

My students are budding 21st Century Learners, who need to learn how to blend technology and hands-on experiences to explore the core skills of communication, collaboration, critical thought, and creation.

Through the addition of novels, picture books, and other texts, students can grow their love and understanding of math and science. In a world so full of technology, this classroom library offers another tool for research, and incorporate ideas across subjects.

My Project

In spite of your age, the magic of a picture book never ends. I have 60 sixth-grade students in a one-to-one setting, where each student has access to a device. They're smart and very screen-happy.

I want my classroom to stimulate students in ways away from the screen and energize their learning.

These students are energetic thinkers who love to learn. Our school, parents, and administrators encourage and support students and teachers to seek ways to develop a love of learning for everyone.

These picture books and novels will be available in my classroom library for students to read at any time. During the content-related unit, I will use and read the corresponding picture book, or snippets of novels as a way to introduce, reinforce, or extend our grade-level work.

Donations to this project will give middle-school students the chance to revisit the "magic" of picture books, and dive into math and science-inspired novels to help them develop their love of learning across subjects.
