Increasing Brain Connections, Reading, and Social Skills Through Bal-a-Vis-X
Help me give my students bean bags and racquetballs to use as we learn Bal-A-Vis-X to improve left-right brain connections, balance, auditory skills, hand-eye coordination, rhythm, cooperation, and self-esteem.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I have 18 young learners who begin the year unable to do many things independently, but are reading and writing, as well as adding and subtracting by year’s end. Gaining and keeping students’ attention and focus requires a steady diet of quick-paced, high-interest lessons. They want to learn just like everyone else, but often can become unfocused in a given time.
My students are enthusiastic, energetic, and creative thinkers and each student brings a totally unique perspective that enriches our classroom in a different way.
When they walk into the classroom, their learning journey begins. Kindergarten is the place where foundational skills are learned and the creation of a lifelong learner takes place.
My Project
Have you heard of Bal-A-Vis-X? If you were like me, this is a new concept. One of my student’s parent sent me a video from an Oklahoma school that is using this program, and I was intrigued. Bal-A-Vis-X is a program that combines Balance, Auditory, Vision and eXercise to increase left-right brain connections.
It builds student self-esteem, eye-hand coordination, left-right brain connections, rhythm, and social skills.
Schools implementing this program have seen increased Reading scores as the left-right brain connections are made. They are also seeing improved behaviors as students work together as a team. These are two of the biggest benefits, but I'm also looking forward to students finding success and building their self-esteem! Students must learn how to focus on the task at hand, which will carry over to their studies. They also learn eye-hand coordination, which will assist them in writing, typing, cutting, and more!
I would like to be able to incorporate this into my classroom and provide my students with opportunities to refocus their minds with quick brain breaks throughout the day using Bal-A-Vis-X. Help me to maximize the potential of a student’s brain!
