Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, compassionate, and motivated. In our room students benefit from the diverse abilities, interests, and needs of their classmates. We strive to better ourselves everyday and work hard to ensure that we are positive examples for our community.
The majority of my class is performing well below grade level in math and reading.
While grade level content is challenging for them, I love their enthusiasm for learning and their motivation and eagerness to want to improve.
Our school has a beautiful community made of students from around the city. We embrace and celebrate our students and their accomplishments.
My Project
I am working hard to create a classroom of avid readers. My students love to learn about current events. However, I currently do not have a wide variety of nonfiction current event texts that are grade level appropriate for my students to read.
The Scholastic News magazines I selected will provide students with grade level appropriate magazines that highlight current events that are of interest to them.
These magazines will allow them to learn more about the world around them while enhancing their nonfiction reading skills. In addition, these resources will help my students increase their love of nonfiction text as well as their love for reading.
