My students need 1 mini trampoline to help get their wiggles out, 5 balance balls at our guided reading table, 5 bouncy bands for my friends whose little feet are always moving, and 3 wobble chairs.
My students are loving, innovative, intelligent, and have a deep love of learning. They always strive to do their best and take on new challenges with open arms. They are respectful, responsible, and solve their problems.
My students learn best and are most engaged when they can choose their working environment based on their learning style and needs.
Think of it like Starbucks. There are many different seating arrangements and we choose our seats based on what's comfortable. The same thing goes for my students. Giving my students this opportunity will benefit them in many ways.
My Project
My students are very active and love to move around! We expect a lot from our kiddos, but sitting in a chair at a desk for several hours a day isn't always reasonable. Kids need some movement. The bouncy balls and wobble stools will be a good alternative to chairs for students who need more movement while working.
My students need to move while working, but we don't have enough resources in our room to allow them to do so.
My students would like more flexible seating options in our classroom so that everyone can benefit. This means that students who need movement to focus will be able to. The bouncy bands will be attached to their chairs so they can move their feet while being actively engaged in our class lesson. My friends with extra energy will have the opportunity to jump on the trampoline, so that they can get their movement break and return back to work.
Oftentimes, students are rocking back-and-forth in their chairs, standing up while working, and wiggling and tapping their feet as they work. Students will be able to use these seating options during literacy workshop, writing, guided reading, at the listening center, and during math. They will help my active students focus. These flexible seating options will help with this!
