Incorporating Play Therapy into School Counseling

My students need multicultural play figures they can relate to. Many times when children are actively playing they open up more in a counseling session.

My Students

I am a school counselor serving over 400 students. Over 95% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch due to living in poverty. I’ve created this wish list of items to use in my classroom lessons, individual counseling sessions, and group counseling sessions to help my students improve their social emotional learning. Sadly we see that mental health issues are on the rise and I am dedicated to helping my students learn to cope with and overcome the situations they face. Thank you for considering a donation and blessing my students.

My Project

When students are actively engaged in play they are more likely to open up during a counseling session about what may be bothering them. These multicultural figures will allow students to have toys they can relate to and enjoy. Students may use this play house and figurines not only for creative play but also to explain their family or home life. Many times kids may not be able to tell what is happening at home but they can show us through the use of toys such as these. These toys will help over 400 students this year and more in the years to come. Thank you!
