Help me give my students inclusive picture books that allow them to see themselves in literature and hear the voices of others in our local and global community. Read aloud books provide the perfect avenue for these conversations!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful class of 50 seven and eight-year olds have boundless energy and excitement for learning and growing in our second grade classroom!
My students are flourishing in our dual language program!
They all come from different cultural, familial and language backgrounds. They also differ in their personalities, creative energy, and learning style. Every single one of them is unique in their own fantastic way! I feel so blessed to be their teacher, and foster their independence and growth into well-rounded citizens of the world!
My Project
Students need to see themselves and the voices of the global community around them in order to gain an understanding of who we are and where we've come from as a society. Through these picture books, students will gain daily access to these stories through our group read aloud time as well as their own independent reading. While practicing their literacy skills, students will have their hands on engaging texts that teach them about the world and the human condition.
As students of our dual language program, our children are learning to be responsible citizens of the world.
Exposure to the stories from people around the world is the perfect avenue to begin that conversation and help students understand the responsibility of global citizenship.
