Help me give my students a place to practice sight words, math facts, classroom breakouts, and so much more! The black lights will allow us to create the Inclusive Black Light Lab!
I am an instructional designer who is fortunate to work with every student in the building. These children are encouraged every day to follow their dreams and reach for the stars! They come from all different backgrounds and vary in intellectual, emotional, and physical needs. The teachers are always looking for new ways to reach kids and push them to their full potential.
The teachers work hard and spend their own money to create learning environments that are engaging and provide opportunities for students to collaborate with each other, so it is our turn to help them.
Our school is an inclusive school where all children have a voice and are treated with the same learning opportunities as their peers. This project will allow ALL the students to use the room to meet their needs and they are excited about the new opportunity!
My Project
Currently, at our school, there is one computer lab that does not always have all computers operational. With the black lights, we can section off a portion of the room where students can practice sight words or math facts that glow in the dark or pretend they are a soldier in the Revolutionary War and write secret messages to generals. The possibilities are endless! With the black lights, students will be able to have a voice and choice and decide if they want to practice math on the computer or using a black light. Students and teachers can create projects that incorporate technology and written skills because now the Inclusive Black Light Lab is for everyone.
By helping me purchase the black lights, and flashlights we are giving opportunities to groups of elementary students that never had a reason to come to the lab, and we are opening the door for a more collaborative and inclusive environment for ALL our students!
Students with intellectual or physical disabilities that can't use the computers currently in the lab, can now come into the Lab and participate with their peers. This project benefits the whole school, not just one piece. Please help us by donating and making the Inclusive Black Light Lab a reality.
