My students are often up and about supporting and working with one another. They spend their school days working in partnerships and groups and collaborating on various projects.
My students are compassionate, creative, critical thinkers, communicators, and collaborators.
They pride themselves on putting their brains together to solve math problems, doing research, collaborating on a passion project, or working together on a presentation.
We're a large elementary school located in a Bay Area suburb. Many students are second generation and speak multiple languages. We pride ourselves on balancing academics with character development and life skills.
My Project
The last couple of years have been challenging, but our students are resilient. They are not only living through a pandemic, but have seen a country divided by politics and racism. It's been a whirlwind and yet my students are open and kind and want to learn about others.
Books showcasing a variety of people and cultures are the best way to create inclusion and empathy.
My class would love to get their hands on more books in our classroom library so they can live and learn alongside characters all over the world. These books will be an important addition to our library.
