This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am an 8th grade resource teacher in a very high poverty area. We have 90 percent free and reduced lunch. Many of our students have special needs.
Our students are excited about learning reading skills including vocabulary and dictionary skills, but we have no dictionaries.
Our students need 20 Merriam-Webster Student Dictionaries. The parents cannot provide them. Their future ability to succeed in all subjects depends on donations and caring community members. This is not just about test scores, but teaching children to read. Their future depends on being able to learn word meaning and applying the skill.
Your help will insure that my students succeed in their reading class and ultimately in life. Your donation makes a difference. We may not succeed without it.
