Help me give my students the ability to work alongside general education students. My Significant Support Needs students need to have an iPad all to themselves, programmed with apps created for their needs.
Have you ever wondered what absolute contentment looks like? It is my face as I enter the halls of my quaint neighborhood school that time has forgotten. I love walking into my pod and hearing students excited for learning. My class is made up of some of the most creative, inspiring students a teacher could ask for. They are full of questions and discussions.
Although our building is older (1989), every day is a brand new adventure.
Whether we are solving crimes for narrative writing or designing chicken coops with our imaginations, once you step into our pod, you are transported to a whole new world.
My Project
I would love to provide my Special Education student with an iPad that is all theirs that can be downloaded with apps intended only for their needs including Proloquo2Go. This app is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication solution for students who suffer from speech difficulties due to autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, apraxia, aphasia or traumatic brain injury. The main aim of the app is to give children and adults with speech impediments a voice. Its visual vocabulary allows creating sentences of varying complexity to communicate wants, needs, and messages that are more advanced. The app is flexible and customizable and allows choosing from a range of realistic accents for children and adults to match their “inner voice.”
