In my classroom, we are working on becoming independent learners.
The fidgets, pens, and candy will be used for our store. Students get to earn money (financial literacy) for various things including getting 100% on tests, returning homework, good citizenship, following rules, etc. At the end of every week they get to spend their money. I have three bins, the prizes inside cost $1, $2, and $3. Whatever amount they've earned, they choose their prizes.
The suckers are going to be used for a reading strategy. Students will use the stick of the sucker to assist them in following along with our reading centers. If the students complete their texts and follow along, they will get the sucker as a reward. We are working on becoming more fluent readers and I will try anything to help my students become successful.
