My Students
The students I serve are of African American and Hispanic decent. They are faced with issues that are totally beyond their control that sometimes makes it difficult to learn. Inspite of challenges, they make a conscious effort to contribute to the classroom society. They are eager to experience success!
I am honored to work with a group of students who are expressive and want to be heard...and they want to be heard often.
They learn best when given choices about how they should learn. They value learning, although faced with adversity at home. These students may be identified as disadvantaged, but their tenacity and spirit of perseverance gives them a great advantage because they understand that hard work pays off eventually.
My Project
These items will help motivate students to achieve their expected weekly goals. For every goal accomplished, they will receive an incentive to be placed in their clear bags. For every task completed, they will receive the incentive that corresponds with goal. At the end of the week, they will be able to redeem the incentives from their bags. The idea is to increase motivation because at this time of year, students are exhausted and need an extra push. These are incentives that they enjoy and would work hard to earn them.
The students will be eager to accomplish tasks because the incentives are tangible, and they will be able to have various opportunities to obtain them.
